Keep hiking beyond Fire Wave
10/17/2020: This is a beautiful hike! Colorful, swirling rock formations abound. Tiny slots gently slice through the multi-colored rocks to make beautiful little waves. This is a must do hike and Valley of Fire State Park is a must-do location. Take water; it gets hot out there.
In Petroglyph Canyon
Marg’s Notes: Left our room ~9:05 heading to Fire Valley State Park. Very cool in the a.m. in Mesquite. Stopped at Visitor’s Center to pay $10 admission fee. First hike was Fire Wave but Rod had found a loop that crossed the road & included The Domes Hike. Very nice rock formations & some slot canyons! It got pretty hot, but we had lots of H2O. 3.26 miles. Had lunch at Mouse Tank. After eating we hiked the Petroglyph Trail. .95 miles. Pretty neat! Headed back to the hotel with a stop at Walmart for gin, tonic, a coffee maker, sugar & Q-Tips! After unpacking our food stuffs, we took our G&T to the pool area. Had a nice chat with a couple from So. CA. The pool was a bit chilly. Felt good after hiking in 90o weather.
Lasagna, bread, salad.
